We are teaching and learning on an 18th Agrarian schedule, in 19th century classrooms, using a 20th Century curriculum, with a No Child Left Behind / Common Core mindset through a pandemic.

We are teaching and learning in the (Edu)Matrix.

While the perspectives and practices of other professions and systems changed and evolved in response to the pandemic, education unfortunately did not "build back better" or "come back stronger". Instead, we bounced backwards by simulating the structure and system of school as we have always known it.

That's the (Edu)Matrix.

However, we are not trapped. We can escape the (Edu)Matrix and move forward to progress and prosper by using our professional and personal education, experience, and expertise - if we choose.

In this fun yet insightful keynote presentation, international author, educator, and presenter Erik M. Francis shows what the future of education could become by balancing traditional best practices with fresh new perspectives for teaching and learning. He will show how making slight shifts in your education philosophy and practices can make teaching and learning can be standards-based, socially and emotionally supportive, and student responsive. He will also show how changing the system and our students starts with changing ourselves and how we view teaching and learning.
