MAVERIK EDUCATION provides continuous professional development and professional learning for teachers and school leaders on how to implement research-based best practices and creative instructional methods that will challenge students to demonstrate different levels of thinking and understand and use their Depth of Knowledge (DOK) through inquiry and by questioning with good questions. Seminars, trainings, and workshops can be presented as half-day or full-day in-services. They can also be provided continuously throughout the academic year to ensure ideas and strategies are implemented effectively and with fidelity.
MAVERIK EDUCATION has conducted seminars, trainings and workshops at numerous national, state, and regional education conferences hosted by organizations such as ASCD, Learning Forward, the College Board, the New Teacher Center, the Southern Region Education Board, the Association for Middle Level Education, and the National Association for Gifted Children. We have also been a featured and keynote speaker at conferences focusing on Title I, gifted education, English language leaRners, dropout prevention, guidance counseling, and social work. We have also conducted seminars and workshops internationally in Canada, Dubai, and Singapore.
MAVERIK EDUCATION has partnered with the online platform SkillsForce to facilitate professional learning, track skill development through the use of microcredentials, and share best practices within a peer community of educators. Participants in our trainings are eligible to receive recertification hours for attendance and completion of training. There are also opportunities to become certified as a trainer or specialist in the techniques and topics on we train through our comprehensive train the trainer program.
Professional development (PD) often refers to a structured training with activities that teachers engage in to enhance their knowledge, skills, and competencies in their profession. It is often a one-size-fits-all approach and typically associated with one-time workshops, seminars, trainings, or lectures. The focus of professional development is on acquiring new knowledge, learning specific strategies or techniques, and developing practical skills that can be applied in the classroom.
Professional learning (PL) engages and encourages educators to collaborate continuously to develop and practice new methods for educating students. It involves experiences such as intensive sessions, collaborating with other teachers, coaching and support, and more training and discussion during the academic year as follow-up. Professional learning aims to increase student achievement and teacher effectiveness through collaborative and continuous learning experiences.
